Family Day, here in Canada, is coming up this month and so we thought we’d take a look at some of the Sullivan shows and movies that are perfect for the whole family!
Road To Avonlea
Avonlea is definitely a show meant for the whole family to enjoy! The adventures, trials and tribulations of the King Family and the people of Avonlea are at times hilarious, heartening, and heart breaking. But the spirit of Avonlea, the way it shows the truth of the human condition, is what makes it so relatable and something the whole family is sure to enjoy!
Anne of Green Gables
Anne’s story is one that the whole family can enjoy! The adventures of the plucky freckled faced orphan are classic and enjoyable at any age. Maybe you grew up reading the Anne books or watching the films, or were introduced to them later in life. How ever you met Anne, her story is wholesome and encapsulates the best of the human experience. Perfect viewing for family time!
Anne The Animated Series
The animated series takes Anne on some familiar and new adventures. It is full of tons of lessons about things that are always relevant like bullying and responsibility and it also includes characters from the beloved Anne of Green gables and Road to Avonlea, melding both Sullivan hits in one great story. This show is perfect for younger children.
The Wild Pony
The Wild Pony is based off of “Year of The Black Pony” by Walt Morey and is a wonderfully filmed story that we think has aspects for the whole family to enjoy . To save her ranch after the accidental death of her husband, Sarah Fellows (Marilyn Lightstone) marries Frank Chase. Deeply resenting the situation, her 12-year-old son Christopher becomes withdrawn and increasingly obsessed with a renegade black pony that runs unfettered through the valley. Frank realizes that Christopher needs the pony and buys it for him and surprisingly, it is through Christopher’s adventure-filled relationship with his pony that the family discovers the true meaning of devotion.
Promise The Moon
This film is all about a young man finding his place in the world, the people who help him do it , keeping promises despite hardship, overcoming obstacles and having compassion. We think these things make Promise The Moon a great pick for family time!
