Ever wonder if those voices you’re hearing in the animated film Anne: Journey to Green Gables sound slightly familiar?  Odds are, they are familiar.  Here’s a look at just a few of the memorable actors from Kevin Sullivan’s Anne of Green Gables, Road to Avonlea and Wind at my Back series who lent their voices to the new feature in reprisals of both old and new characters.

Patricia Hamilton’s voice is synonymous with the boisterous Rachel Lynde viewers know so well from the original Anne of Green Gables.  So it was only fitting that she continue her role, this time in animated form.  Viewers of the series will enjoy Rachel in both Journey to Green Gables, as well as Anne: The Animated Series, in which she takes up her position as the town newspaper’s gossip columnist and Anne and Gilbert’s first official employer.

Dalene Irvine played tomboy Maisey McGinty in Kevin Sullivan’s award-winning series Wind at my Back.  But in this animated film, Irvine portrays the complete opposite as the prim and proper Felicity King.  Felicity is often the bane of Anne and Diana’s existence and has a lot of learning to do, along with Anne.

Viewers of Road to Avonlea will remember Lally Cadeau’s portrayal of the warm and motherly Janet King, who would do anything for her children.  But in Journey to Green Gables, Lally gets to try her hand at a sinister character.  This time, she is Madame Poubelle – the cruel owner of Grout Orphanage, where Anne stays before her new life at Green Gables.

Stayed tuned for future posts about the other famous actors that lent their voices to this animated production.
