Matthew Cuthbert

Matthew Cuthbert was Marilla’s brother and became Anne’s adoptive father. Good-natured and shy, Mathew was the one who convinced Marilla to keep Anne. His soft-spoken nature hides his intense love for the child, as he longs to share in the extremes of her over-active imagination helping to make Anne’s wishes come true; demonstrated when he buys her a ball gown with the puffiest of puff-sleeves.

RICHARD FARNSWORTH WORKED FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS as a stuntman before he moved into acting. He was a stuntsman in such films as Gone with
the Wind, The Ten Commandments, and Spartacus. Farnsworth was over fifty when he decided to move into acting. At the age of 58, he received his first Academy Award nomination for Comes a Horseman. His other film credits include The Grey Fox, The Natural, Misery and The Straight Story, for which he garnered his second Academy Award nomination. Richard Farnsworth passed away on October 6, 2000. He was 80 years old.
