Cecily Caramel Apples

Halloween is just around the corner, and what better treat to make with the whole family than delicious caramel apples! The King family works together to perfect this recipe! Felicity is the best at apple bobbing and her sister Cecily creates this sticky caramel recipe. Will you be bobbing for apples this year?

Ingredients

  • 8 apples
  • 8 chopsticks
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Boil apples in a large pot on the stovetop to get rid of the wax. The apples only need to boil for a few seconds.
  2. Dry with paper towels and let cool. Insert chopsticks into the top of the apples.
  3. In a large saucepan, mix together the corn syrup, butter, sugar and milk over medium high heat. Bring to boil, stirring constantly until 245F on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove caramel from heat. stir in vanilla.
  5. Quickly dip and twist each apple in the mixture until covered, place on lined baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle with desired toppings while caramel is still hot.
  7. Let apple cool completely.
  8. Enjoy!
